Wallpaper removal in Somersworth and the NH Seacoast

Old paper comes off without tearing up the wall behind it. Then we skim, sand and prime, so the surface is genuinely ready for paint rather than just bare.

What you get

What wallpaper removal includes

Stripping paper is the easy half. Getting the wall flat again is the part that decides how the finished room looks.

Get this priced for your place
  • Room emptied or centered, floors and remaining furniture protected
  • Paper scored, softened and lifted rather than dry-ripped off the wall
  • Backing paper and old adhesive removed, not painted over
  • Torn drywall paper sealed so it does not bubble under the next coat
  • Gouges and seams filled, then skim-coated where the surface needs it
  • Sanded flat and dusted down
  • Primed ready for paint or for new paper
  • Debris bagged and removed; room left clean
The process

How the work runs

  1. 01

    Test a patch

Different papers and different walls behave differently. We test a small area first so we know what we are dealing with before quoting the room.

  2. 02

    Strip it properly

Paper is scored and softened so it releases, instead of being pulled off dry and taking the drywall face with it.

  3. 03

    Clean off the glue

Old adhesive is washed off. Anything painted directly over leftover paste will show, so this step is not optional.

  4. 04

    Skim, sand and prime

The wall gets filled, skimmed where needed, sanded flat and primed. At that point it is ready for whatever comes next.

Questions

Wallpaper removal questions

Sometimes it is possible, but it is rarely the right call. Seams and texture telegraph through the paint, and any moisture in the new coat can lift the paper. We will tell you honestly which way makes sense for your walls.
